Waldwick Borough Center: An urban neighborhood located in the Borough Center of Waldwick. Most houses are occupied by owners, and sometimes they rent rooms or even portions of their homes. Most of the residences are older as they were built before 1940. There is more hustle and bustle here than surrounding areas.
Living in Waldwick
Waldwick is one of those places where respectful and educated people live. In fact, many of them have been called urban sophisticates. But don't let that description fool you. Residents are laidback and carefree when they are not working. Speaking of working, an interestingly large number of residents in Waldwick work from home: almost 8 percent of the workforce telecommutes from home. This means that traffic will be less of a headache during rush hour. This solid community does not have a booming nightlife, so if you're looking to party all night, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for peace and quiet in a working class community, Waldwick could be what you're looking for.
Those who don't work from home take the train at the Waldwick train station, which is located at the intersection of West Prospect Street, Hewson Avenue, and Lafayette Place. You can take public transit to the New Penn Station and the New Jersey Transit Rail. If you don't have a car, you can still get around, but keep in mind that aren't many sidewalks in Waldwick. So, it might not be pedestrian-friendly. Also, if you are a water lover, less than 1 percent of the area is water. So you might want to visit the beach near the coast if you want to participate in water sports or swimming. But there might be woods right behind your home. It's here where you can appreciate Waldwick's quaint beauty and serenity.
